If you want to fire your arrows accurately! And be able to continue to fire arrows accurately for any length of time, one of the pieces of equipment you will need is a stabilizer on your bow.

A stabilizer serves two main functions. The first is to hold the bow steady and more stable, hence its name. From this comes a secondary advantage with using a stabilizer and this is that it reduces hand shock and vibration. I'll explain why this is important in just a moment. First off we should examine what a stabilizer is made out of. For many years they were made of a heavier metal tubes. Since then they have come a long way . The metal was fairly heavy however, You want to add some weight but, not too much. This weight is what stabilizes the bow. These day's the stabilizers are made of Carbon.  Carbon is ideal because it is a durable, and a lightweight material that is also tough enough to perform properly. A dampening device allows the stabilizer to perform its its secondary function, that of reducing the vibration through the bow from the force of releasing the bowstring. The dampening device will most likely be made of rubber however other vibration absorbent materials can be used. By positioning the dampening material away from the end of the bow their effectiveness will be maximized.

When deciding on which stabilizer to use you will find that they come in a variety of lengths & weights. The length of the stabilizer you need will depend mostly on the type of archery you plan on doing. speaking  In general terms, the longer the stabilizer you use the more steady your bow will be and Ultimately, the more accurate you are likely to be. Target archers use long stabilizers anywhere from 12 to 24 inches in lengh. Bowhunters, on the other hand, use shorter stabilizers anywhere from 4 inches to 12 because of the conditions under which they will be carrying and firing their bow. So after deciding what type of use you are searching for the stabilizer is just another tool to help us in our never ending quest for the Whitetail of  a lifetime or just an accurate taget bow for the range be it 3-D etc . I will elaborate more on the importance of the stabilizer later on . Inculuding some video on the subject.

Hope this article helps you understand the function & importance of a stabilizer whether its on the target range or heading to the woods for the wild game you so choose to hunt . To Maximize the affectiveness of your hunt overall.

Until next  time have a great Safe hunt & May God Bless
